Well, the information in the retail packaging says yes, but after I unscrew the soldering iron tip I only see a faint blue line of flame upon each piezo click. Also it is tricky to get to light in soldering iron configuration but once it does I see the catalytic screen vigorously glowing orange. The price is very modest so you might get one and take it out for a spin yourself. I got mine on Amazon.

ML500MP butane soldering iron. Above the top edge in this jpg you can see the edge of the convenient thumb activated piezoelectric igniter. On the near side you can see the black flame heat adjustment slide, with the OFF position as shown in the jpg, and NO detent or catch to prevent the slide to moving to the on position and filling your tool box with butane. Yikes! The solution is simple: apply a small piece of electrical tape touching both the slide and the slit in which it slides.
