ARRL made it clear that they don't think Field Day should take place as usual, but that clubs need to comply with local directions. Interaction with the public seems unlikely.

I just called Rock Bridge State Park, and they are open. Our reservation is still valid. There will be new guide lines coming out next week, and Sara will call me to discuss. 

I think the first thing we need to do is get a read on how many of us want to participate in some kind of club activity around Field day. If there is only 5, we have a plan, if there is 35, we need a plan.

Not being able to invite large groups of the public to get hands-on demonstrations of a transceiver. Not cramping four guys in an enclosed trailer for 26 hours.

What is normal about this years' operation? Finding creative solutions to common problems that we might find during an emergency. Actually learning how to adapt and overcome. Obtaining useful skills and learning from others how to build a better operation, should we be individually needed.

Am I saying that we have to do a full blown Field Day? No. Some of the activities are just too much work to render safe for the group. Examples I would give are an operator and logger sitting elbow to elbow in a trailer. Could the same be accomplished in a pop-up tent with 6 feet of separation? I think it is possible. Or maybe an operator doing their own logging. Wireless networking helps a great deal, as does interfacing the logging software to the radio. Automatic dupe checking is a miracle in itself.

Is a basic 3A operation that concentrates on CW, SSB and digital in tents a possibility?

In WW2 portable radios were huge.  Back packs even.  They were called Walkie Talkies because you could sort of walk with one.  Later came the lunchbox size so you could still ealk snd talk.  Handi talkies because you could hold one in your hand.  My first was a Motorola HT 200.  About size and wright of a brick.

It's purpose is to give the Winlink user a chance to practice and keep your Winlink operation going. If you are like me, I forget how to do something when I don't do it after a time (like a couple of days sometimes). Winlink Express software is updated regularly and the forms in the Templates section are updated often. You have to open Winlink Express to get these updates.

So I am asking the Winlink users to "check-in" to the Winlink Wednesday net with WX0BC.  That means for you to send a Winlink message to WX0BC, any time on Wednesday. The message should be the Winlink Check-in form found under Templates: Standard: General:. 

You can send the message anyway you like to get to the Winlink system. Locally, we have K0SI-10 (VHF-Packet), or on HF (K0SI 80M or 40M Ardop), or you can use any RMS gateway you can get to. And if you have trouble getting the message out RF, you can even use Telnet. Just address it to WX0BC.

On Thursday I will send a summary of our check-ins to the those whose check-ins I received at WX0BC. Some Winlink Wednesday nets have grown to more than 100 check-ins. It's purpose is to give the Winlink user a chance to practice and keep your Winlink operation going. You can send the message anyway you like to get to the Winlink system. Locally, we have K0SI-10 (VHF-Packet), or on HF (K0SI 80M or 40M Ardop), or you can use any RMS gateway you can get to. And if you have trouble getting the message out RF, you can even use Telnet. Just address it to WX0BC.

On Thursday I will send a summary of our check-ins to the those whose check-ins I received at WX0BC. Some Winlink Wednesday nets have grown to more than 100 check-ins. I am NOT wanting that, just get the Central Missouri Winlnk users a chance to practice, so if we get a disaster that asks us to send data via Winlink we will be ready.

Thanks for all of the answers!

I'm currently sitting on my AnyTone D868-UV, my Yaesu FT-60, and a BaoFeng BF-F8HP.  All are dual-band, as most HTs are these days.  The AnyTone and the BaoFeng are both dual monitor.

I'm thinking that I can setup the Yaesu for the 61 repeater, the BaoFeng for the 76 repeater and monitor the 155 "open" transmissions or a weather alert freq, and have the AnyTone set for a couple of DMR channels that I haven't quite nailed down, as yet.  This would allow me to cover all of the bases (that I'm invested in) with my HTs.  I had thought that maybe it was a bit silly to have 3 at one time, but I'm beginning to see that isn't the case.

Greeting Everyone, I’m only actively using one,Maybe two HT’s. Although like Ralph I’m probably sitting on at least twelve maybe more. I even have a really old Kenwood dual band rigs when new sold for over five hundred dollars, it can do cross band repeat, along with many other features ahead of its time. Corey
