John W. Smith

With the passing of Corey, KC0YNS/SK, CMRA needs to fill the remainder
of the current term for the Member at Large position. This is a two year
term, good through January of 2022.

Below is the relevant information about this position, excerpted  from
the club's bylaws, point 5.

"Executive Committee. The Executive Committee shall consist of the

rest of the membership. The last member will serve a term of two years.
The Executive Committee will conduct the affairs of the Association
between business meetings...All actions of the Executive Committee shall
be reported at the next meeting for action by members."

According to the club's constitution, Article II: Officers, Section 3,
"Vacancies occurring between elections shall be filled at a special

There was some talk about an antenna tower trailer.  Would Cory's tower work for that?  Perhaps mounted on a Harbor freight trailer?  What is the collapsed length of the tower?  Just thinking.

Due to the current COVID-19 guidelines, we are asking that you wear masks, and observe the one-wavelength at 144 Mhz distancing. We have not moved any equipment, so you will find it where Corey last used it, primarily in his shack/garage. This is not a big room, so we will restrict entry to 6  people at a time. Attached is a sheet showing many, but not all, of the things you will find there. With the help of K0PHP, there is an estimated value of each item given. These values are not totally firm, but we want to be fair to the estate.
Not listed are the towers and antennas you will see outside. They are still in the air at this time, and disassembly has not yet been planned.

Hope to see you there, Saturday 7/11/2020.

It’s not an auction. Equipment is on benches as Corey lay used them and I guess it is first come first serve. We have published to this list approximate values of some of the equipment based on recent QRZ.COM sales.

Re: Motion to Sell the Trailer

James Whitehill

I vote to sell the trailer, given the problems and burdens with storage, insurance, and repair, as well as locating and transporting it.  We use it once or twice a year, for Field Day and sometimes as a base for a small portable operation.  It seems unlikely we would use it as a critical base for emergency ops, given there are alternatives (a house, an institution, even canopy/tents/park shelters, and perhaps a communications van or bus owned by a hospital).

For alternatives, off the top of my head, I think Field Day could be in a park shelter or a canopy/tent/vehicle gathering ... the same for portable operation practices.

One relevant enhancement the club could invest in is an antenna trailer.  I am thinking of a simple flatbed trailer, with telescoping antenna masts on board plus a sectional l (5-7 ft. sections) light weight tower 25-30 ft. high with mast, perhaps some outriggers for stabilization, a toolbox, etc.  The trailer would be narrow ( 6 1/2 ft.), but long enough to hold 7ft. or 5 ft. tower sections (cf. DXE Engineering) , and the trailer would have a welded in tipping base for the bottom tower section.   An antenna trailer no longer than 8 ft. could be easily stored and require little maintenance.  It would be light enough to be hauled by almost any vehicle with a trailer hitch, depending on total weight.

We might also invest in a couple of canopies and folding tables.  The one thing we might miss is air-conditioning on Field Day.

My opinion is that the trailer is a great asset for the club to have.  Having said that, we have been unable to come up with a suitable permanent home for it, and I do not have any resources that I use can assist in that matter at this time.  It basically needs a custodian, that has a safe place to park it and is willing to keep an eye on it to make sure that it is not leaking and such and willing to make sure that it remains serviceable.  If we do not have a person in the club that is able to fulfill that role, then my vote is to sell the trailer.
