This week on Thursday April 7, 2022, we will hold a one (1) hour demo session as part of the course. This will be held during the second half of the class from 1930 – 2030 in room 148/149 (they have been combined into one room). Class starts at 1830 in room 150 (you are invited to step into the class) and/or you may setup your demo between 1830 – 1930 in 148/149. Entrance to the building is at the southwest corner.
Radios, digital, Winlink, antennas, etc. are all welcome. There will be a base/mobile with an outside antenna (the classroom is only ten (10) feet from the main entrance, so fifty (50) feet of coax will easily allow for an outside antenna to be set up) operating on the 146.760 repeater for those who would like to participate remotely. Other radios for other modes and bands are encouraged. The building has a solid metal roof, so inside antennas are dubious. Due to the late start to the registration period, there are only three (3) students so there will be plenty of time for one-on-one interaction. This is the single best vehicle we have of new and upcoming membership in both CMRA and BCARES, so please come and join us.

For anyone who is interested the 40 and 20 have been GREAT the last couple days. LOTS of DX, Ive made contacts with at least 7 or 8 new countries. Last night South America and the Caribbean was rocking and today the Baltic States are coming in loud and clear. Happy DXing!

I received this a few minutes ago. I have not verified it, but felt speed was more important than verifying it, at this point.
Emergency comms in the Azores
GB2RS News Team | March 25, 2022
The island of Sao Jorge in the Azores has suffered over 1,800 earthquakes in 48 hours.
The regional government has prepared contingency plans to protect the island’s population.
CT1END, the Emergency Communications Coordinator for Portugal, reports that a group of nine radio amateurs are working to support emergency communications locally and back to Portugal.
Radio amateurs are asked to steer clear of 3.75 to 3.76MHz overnight, 7.1 to 7.11MHz during the day, and around 14.300MHz for those amateurs outside the region.
All radio amateurs are encouraged to listen carefully and avoid causing any interference to emergency operations on those frequencies.
More details are available on the IARU Region 1 website.
