The reason I brought this up is that is the place where I've gotten all of my small quantity paracord purchases for the past several years, and if you get those donuts through surplus shops, they're local. For now.

Thank you for the information. The truck might be just what is  needed to pull the club response trailer for  hard to get to locations..

Well, it just so happens that my daughter and I were driving past ArmySurplus.net over the weekend and it looks like they're closing down their store.  I haven't checked out their site, but they have big signs in the store windows advertising they're clearing things out.

JOTA Cub Scout Rally event at Bass Pro, Saturday 20 Oct 2018, 12:00 noon - 5:00 pm

Brothers and Sisters:

I just heard back from Jim Wilson (Trustee K2BSA) that we have been authorized to use the "K2BSA/0" call sign for Jamboree on the Air, Saturday, during the Bass Pro Cub Scout Rally. This is Good News!

Thank you for those who have responded to my email, below. I know that I can speak for Brian Fowler (CMRA 2018 President) that this is a part of our never ending work to encourage young people to get excited about amateur radio. Thanks to all who are working on passing the torch. I will give a report following the event.

Brothers,

I need two kinds of help with the event this Saturday morning:

1) Stay at Home stations to be available on Columbia's 2 meter repeaters from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. This is an important job to get some of the shy cub scouts to talk. Here are some good questions to get the conversations going:
a. What is your favorite thing to do in Scouts?
b. What rank are you?
c. What is your troup/pack?
d. How long have you been a scout?
e. Do you know anyone who is an amateur radio operator?
f. Have you been to any camps this year?

Questions that will get the scouts to start to feel comfortable about talking on the air. They will pick it up quickly.

2) Help at Bass Pro (be there at 12:00 noon until ~ 5:00pm. If you show up, I will put you to work. Last year, we had a long line of parents and scouts. Getting each scout to sign in and then answering questions would be a big help.

Thanks for your help.

This net will be conducted using a mobile radio but on the 147.000 repeater frequency (operating in reverse mode) so you can call like you normally would on the repeater.  However, you will not hear any courtesy tones nor will you be able to hear others who check into the net.

We hope to get the repeater moved and in place in the next two weeks.

In case you haven't seen it yet, AnyTone has released a new version of firmware and CPS.  Its available on the Bridgecom site https://www.bridgecomsystems.com/pages/anytone-at-d868uv-support-page

According to Chuck, K0XM, AnyTone released V 2.33 FW and 1.33 CPS. This fixes the GPS through Motorola Repeaters AND also fixes the clicking on weak signals which was caused by the colon on the clock display.
