VE Testing This Week
Jon Cole
Hello all, 1) A reminder to VEs that we have testing tonight and tomorrow night. 2) The test session tomorrow night has been been moved to the Hyvee at 25 Conley Road, Columbia, MO. 3) The ARRL website has the wrong date for our test sessions. They show it as happening on Wednesday. I have emailed them to get it corrected. I'm guessing that leap year threw off their calendar program. 4) Would one of our webmasters please update our web pages to reflect the change in location. I expect it will need to be changed for next month as well, according to my crystal ball. 5) In the great words of Douglas Adams' 'Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy', Don't Panic. ![]() Thank you all. Re: Hamfest
I think the gokit show and tell should go on.
Probably less than 50 people.
Probably no out of towners from far away.
It is out doors
And it is spread out. So if you have to sneeze you can cover and just turn in a safe direction.
And I want to take more pictures of everybody's ideas.
My $0.02 worth.

Due to the COVID-19 virus and the CDC recommendation of cancelling events with more than 50 present, we made the decision this morning to cancel the Boonville, MO hamfest scheduled for 3/21/2020.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at our hamfest next year.

Jon and VEs, our class at CACC is back to 10, so that's the number of test takers at CACC Monday. I will be talking Monday to CACC office about opening up the next classroom for the VEs, so between rooms 150 and 151, we will have our 6 ft. spacings. Other things might be useful, like Purell and/or handwashing. The CACC class will possibly be cancelled, if the regular school day classes are cancelled. Currently, (Sat'day at 6:30 pm) schools will be open Monday. Jim, n0ssm

VE Testing Next Week
Jon Cole
To all our VEs:
We have two test sessions next week. One on Monday at 7:40 PM for the final session of the Tech class at the Columbia Area Career Center, located just north of Rock Bridge High School. I’m expecting about 7 examinees for this one. Tuesday night at 7:00 PM we are holding our monthly session at the Hyvee on Conley Road. I’m expecting about 10 to 12 examinees, including several from the Saint Louis area because their test sessions were cancelled. Jon Cole, N0OFJ

Thanks to all presenters for their contributions to the portable antenna program on Tuesday. Without exception, each of you were brief and compelling in showing the VHF and HF antennas you built or bought. K0EMT's presentation was the longest and the last. Bryan had forewarned me over last weekend by email about his extensive projects in QRP antennas and I gave permission for his extended demos and explanations. Good work by all of you: K0PHP, WD6BGN, AE0FD, W0TES, and K0MET. Jim, N0SSM

Bryan, Thanks for the additional, useful information in this email. But special thanks for the presentation last night, which excited a lot of interest. I'm glad you went last, on the principle of saving the best for last! Your presentation, which you have done before elsewhere, showed polish and efficiency. Lots of ideas and experiment are embedded in your kit and I think will inspire others, including me, to develop our own kits and antennas. Well done! Jim, N0SSM
