Doors open at 8:30 a.m.. Entry for this year's hamfest is $10 and we'll again be offering the Superticket for $20 which gives you 20 prize ticket chances! This year's hamfest has more prize give aways than we've ever had! We have a plethora of $100 gift certificates from DX Engineering and Alpha Antennas as well as $50 gift certificates from N3FJP for his logging software and from the ARRL. We also have some great books by Craig "Buck" K4IA such as "How to Chase, Work and Confirm DX", "How to get on HF The Easy Way" and "Prepper Communications" we'll be giving away. For those taking their exam at our VE testing session at 8:30 a.m., we have a General Class and Extra Class exam study guide we'll be raffling for those that pass the technician and general class exams. For those interested in radios, we have (2) of the Yaesu FT-70 dual band analog / Fusion portables to give away. And, we have a BRAND NEW radio to production - the B-Tech 6X2PRO dual band analog / DMR portable with analog and digital APRS capabilities!!! These radios have had great reviews and are said to outperform their Anytone competitors - AND the APRS decode is reportedly one of the best on the market. If you happen to stay all the way to the end, you'll have a chance to win the grand prize - a Yaesu FT-891 HF mobile radio! At 10 a.m. in the upstairs conference room, Dennis Kimrey, W0HL, and Roger Worley, KE0OMJ, will be presenting on POTA - Parks On The Air. They'll be discussing how to activate a park, what equipment they have found useful and ideal for a POTA activation, and end with a roundtable Q&A session At 11:30 a.m., Eric Presser, KD0CEN, Chief Field Technician for the Missouri State Highway Patrol, will be showing us some of the awesome things we can do with the NanoVNA antenna analyzer. In fact, for those that attend, you'll be entered in a special drawing to TAKE HOME a Nano VNA-H4 for yourself. Associated Radio, D&L Antenna and Ham Crazy will be at the hamfest along with a host of flea market tables already reserved. We only have 7 tables left for the event so if you are interested in a table, please email me ASAP at adkins.james@... We are expecting an exceptional turnout for this year's event, you won't want to miss it! Do you need directions, check out https://smlrs.info/hamfest-driving-directions/ For the hamfest flyer, check out https://smlrs.info/hamfest-flyer/ For those of you that want to spend the night before the hamfest, we highly recommend the Americinn in Republic, MO - less than 5 minutes from the hamfest venue. We had LOTS of good reviews for it last year and expect the same this year. Here is a link to their website: https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/americinn/republic-missouri/americinn-lodge-and-suites-republic/overview?CID=LC:AA::GGL:RIO:National:52008&iata=00093796 There are lots of good restaurants in Republic including Heady BBQ, Big Whiskey's, Flat Creek (A local favorite) as well as your typical host of fast food and sit down restaurants like Village Inn. Other attractions of interest nearby include the original Bass Pro Shop about 10 minutes away from the hamfest which includes a great aquarium, a firearms museum, and Hemmingway's Restaurant inside Bass Pro just to name a few things. Talk-in is via the Southwest Missouri Linked Repeater System - the local repeater to the hamfest is the 147.015+ PL 162.2 Hz but the system has 12 repeaters linked together and you can reach net control via any of them. For a complete list, visit https://smlrs.info/repeater-frequencies-and-pl-tones/ If you have any questions about the hamfest or would like to secure your flea market table for the event, please email hamfest@... *Please* pass this along to your friends and any clubs or groups you are affiliated with and help us spread the word James Adkins, KB0NHX Nixa ARC Hamfest Committee 417-834-2745 (cell) |
