Hello,
My name is Steve Royse (KE0JSZ). I live in Holts Summit and got my
amateur radio license 6-7 years ago. I studied for it and took the
exam pretty much just as a challenge but didn't really get into it
much after that.
I have an IC-7300, MFJ-870 SWR meter, MFJ-260C dummy load, 100'
underground approved antenna cable with PL259 on each end, an
EFHW-8010P multiband antenna, and some misc, items. All are in good
shape and barely used. I'm sure the radio is overdue for a firmware
update as I have never updated.
I'm in the process of getting my house ready to sale and trying to get
rid of things. If your club would be interested in having this I would
donate free of charge. I have a doctor appointment in Columbia on
Monday afternoon 4/3/23 and could drop it off somewhere.
Thanks,Steve

A very generous gift, indeed!  Thanks, Chris, for accepting this offer and making arrangements to transfer the gift to our loaner program.  I believe Myron, W0ZH, is still the loaner chief  Since one important goal of the loaner program is to provide a temporary loan to new licensees to encourage HF band use and upgrading Technician licenses, I think the legacy Yaesu HF rig currently in the W0ZH "bank" should be the first in line as the loaner for new licensees,  rather than the ICOM 7300.

I suggest the ICOM 7300 (currently the best-selling HF rig) and its accompanying accessories, be reserved for dues-paying members' short-term use (1 month? ) or for their weekend events like Field Day or MO QSO party, etc.  I would go further and propose that the ICOM 7300 be on loan for only those who are already on HF (i.e., have a xcvr and decent antenna, etc.), so the loan would serve also an educational purpose in regard to the newest  xcvr technology, such  as touch display, DSP filtering, etc, SDR sampling, etc.).

The gift's inclusion of a simple multi-band EFHW (End Fed Half Wave)  antenna and 100 ft. of coax cabling points to a simple purchase the club could make of these ready-made EFHW antennas (or better yet) get some kits from QRPGuys for a club project. Near the top of the need list for getting on HF is a simple mului-band antenna that is easily deployable in just about any environment, including HOA locations.
