Winlink Story - 2
Winlink Story – Exercise
Group of Winlink users:
Have a little fun exercising your Winlink capabilities by participating in this month’s Winlink exercise.
We (you) will help write a story by adding a line (LIMIT IT TO LESS THAN 140 CHARACTERS) to the received email and forwarding it on to the next person on the list.
For example, you will receive a message on Winlink that has a list of call signs of the participating group in a column on the left, and a story developing from that which will look like:
(Players on the list at this time)
N0AXZ – Once upon a time in a faraway ether-space there was an amateur radio operator who
KC0EZE
K0PHP
WD6BGN
W0ZH
W0TES
K0JHL
N6VZO
KF0FZV
K0MIZ
This message would be received by KC0EZE and he would add a line to the story and forward the message to K0PHP. K0PHP would add a line and forward it to WD6BGN, etc. etc. etc.…
The last person on the list will add the ending and forward that back to me. I will then send the story out to all you who participated to see what kind of Winlink story we produced.
This is without the use of any Artificial Intelligence - AI! Just use Winlink to read the mail, add your line, and forward to another ham.
I will ask you not to use any political, religious, or otherwise objectionable prose.
After you have read your incoming mail, click on the Forward button, enter the next ham call sign from the list in the To: field and then you can add your prose to the story. WHEN YOU FORWARD YOUR MESSAGE TO THE NEXT HAM ON THE LIST, ALSO CC: N0AXZ, SO THAT I CAN SEE IF THE CHAIN MIGHT HAVE BROKEN AND RESTART IT.
If I start this on Wednesday afternoon, depending on how many players we get, we may have it completed by Thursday PM. I will need a list of players by Wednesday (3/15) afternoon and we will be ready to go. I’ll email the playing group when I start the story so you can then be looking for a Winlink email coming your way.
You will have to connect to your favorite Winlink Node to see if you have mail waiting, and until you do get email you are in the waiting stage. Keep checking until you get the message, then add your line and forward it to the next on the list. I will publish the group and order when I get all the volunteers on CMRA email, and you can see if you will be early or later on the list.
So, if you are interested in using Winlink in this creative project, send me an email and stand by. IF YOUR CALLSIGN IS ON THE ABOVE LIST, BUT YOU CAN’T PLAY NOW, PLEASE LET ME KNOW, SO I CAN REMOVE YOU FROM THE CHAIN.
